CIP SYSTEMS:
Initially pre rinse pipeline with clean water & run to waste. Make up a hot solution (75-90°C)
at a dilution of 0.8–1%, depending on soiling levels.
Circulate through pipe systems & bulk tanks as required, for upto 15 minutes. Run the solution
to waste – or if a recovery system is installed, run the first 100 litres to waste before filling
recovery tank. Rinse the system with clean cold water & allow to drain.
PASTEURISER SYSTEMS:
Pre rinse plant to drain with cold water. Make up a solution of CIP Liquid at 15 ml per litre of
water. In hard water areas, use a concentration of 20 ml per litre. Heat solution to 75°C &
circulate for upto 20 minutes. Allow plant to cool, pump to drain & rinse with cold water.
MANUAL/SOAK CLEANING:
For soak cleaning, first remove as much gross soiling as possible by hand.
Make up hot solution (50°C) of CIP Liquid between 1-5% as applicable.

Effective dairy hygiene depends on removing both organic milk residues and mineral deposits from milking equipment.
Astral Hygiene supplies specialist dairy cleaning chemicals for milking parlours, pipelines, bulk milk tanks, robotic systems and other dairy plant.
Alkaline circulation cleaners such as Robo Alkali, Metron, Crystal, Vanorinse and Vanosan are designed to remove fats, proteins and milk residues from milking equipment. Several products are formulated for use across different water hardness conditions and for low-foaming circulation cleaning.
Acidic dairy cleaners such as Acid Brite, GP Acid, Multi-Acid and Robo Acid are used to remove milkstone, mineral scale and deposit build-up from appropriate dairy systems.
Used as part of a suitable cleaning programme, acid and alkaline products support effective CIP cleaning, descaling and routine milking-system maintenance.
Different dairy installations require different cleaning systems, depending on equipment type, water conditions and the level of contamination.
Products such as Acid Brite, GP Acid, Multi-Acid and Robo Acid are formulated for removing milkstone and scale from pipelines, bulk tanks and dairy equipment. Multi-Acid is specifically described for regular and robotic milking plants, multi-stage CIP systems and acid boiling-water cleaning.
Robo Acid and Robo Alkali are designed specifically for robotic and conventional milking equipment. Robo Acid provides phosphoric-acid descaling, while Robo Alkali uses a high-strength alkaline formulation to remove fats, oils, proteins and milk residues.
Cleansan is a specialist QAC-free detergent for cluster-flush and teat-brush systems, with the current product listing stating that 25 litres can make up to 20,000 litres of cleaning solution at the specified dilution.
Astral Hygiene supplies dairy CIP cleaners, milkstone removers, acid and alkaline circulation cleaners, pipeline cleaners, bulk milk tank chemicals, robotic milking-system cleaners and specialist dairy disinfectants.
What is milkstone?
Milkstone is a hard deposit that can develop on dairy equipment from a combination of milk residues and mineral salts. Specialist acid cleaners are used to remove and control this build-up.
What removes milkstone from milking equipment?
Products such as Acid Brite, GP Acid, Multi-Acid and Robo Acid are formulated for milkstone and scale removal in appropriate dairy cleaning applications.
What is the difference between acid and alkaline dairy cleaners?
Alkaline cleaners primarily remove organic contamination such as fats, proteins and milk residues. Acid cleaners are primarily used to remove mineral deposits, scale and milkstone.
What does CIP mean in dairy cleaning?
CIP means Cleaning in Place. It refers to circulating cleaning solutions through pipelines, tanks and equipment without dismantling the system.
