Directions for Use
1. Confirm the restraint plan
Have a competent person assess the task, anchorage location, compatible harness or belt and approved attachment point. The complete arrangement must prevent access to the fall hazard. Do not assume that a fixed 1.5m lanyard is suitable for every working area or that its standards permit standalone fall arrest.
2. Inspect the complete assembly
Before each use, inspect the rope, terminations, thimbles, connectors and identification according to Portwest’s instructions. Check that the connector mechanisms operate correctly and that examination records are current. Quarantine damaged, altered or suspect equipment rather than attempting an unauthorised repair.
3. Connect and check the working area
Fit the lanyard only to the compatible points specified in the restraint plan and manufacturer instructions. Confirm that connectors close and secure correctly, without unsuitable loading or interference. Check the permitted reach before starting work; do not modify the assembly or use knots to improvise a different configuration.
4. Care for and retire the lanyard
Follow the supplied cleaning, drying, storage and periodic-examination requirements. Protect the equipment from conditions outside its permitted limits and keep its history traceable. Remove it from service if its condition, identification or history is uncertain, and follow the manufacturer’s retirement criteria.

FP21 is listed as a restraint lanyard and has no energy absorber. Its intended restraint arrangement must prevent the wearer reaching a fall hazard. Do not use it as a standalone fall-arrest system or infer a different application from the connector style.
