Evans Contact Teat Disinfectant 25L
Evans Vanodine Contact is a ready-to-use teat disinfectant and conditioner for pre- and post-milking routines. This 25-litre pack is identified by order code R043KEV. Its iodine and PVP-iodine formulation combines disinfection with skin-conditioning emollients, giving dairy teams a prepared product for the manufacturer's dipping, spraying and foaming methods.
The thickened dark brown liquid makes coverage visible during application. A polymeric agent and added surfactant help distribute the product over the teat skin, while the blend of glycerol and sorbitol supports skin condition. Checking coverage remains an active part of the routine: the whole teat needs the specified treatment, rather than just its end.
Preparation and finishing differ before and after milking. Pre-milking treatment includes a defined contact period followed by thorough wiping and drying; post-milking treatment is applied immediately afterwards and must remain in place for sufficient contact. Keeping these stages clear helps staff follow a repeatable procedure without confusing the two methods.
Choose application equipment and supplies to suit the farm's hygiene programme. Our teat care products range includes formulations for different milking routines, while dairy hygiene supplies cover separate cleaning tasks around milking equipment. Follow each product's label and keep teat treatments distinct from chemicals intended for machinery or general surfaces.

Directions for Use
Prepare the product, teats and equipment
Use Contact undiluted and read the current label and safety sheet. Evans recommends a dosing pump when filling application equipment. Ensure the udder and teats are clean and dry before treatment. Wear chemical-resistant gloves, protective clothing and suitable protective footwear as specified in the safety information.
Apply the pre-milking treatment
For manual dipping or foaming, fill the teat cup approximately two-thirds full and treat the full length of each teat. For the electronic spraying method, cover the entire surface of all teats. Allow at least 60 seconds of contact, then wipe and dry thoroughly with a single-use paper towel before milking.
Apply immediately after milking
Use a cup approximately two-thirds full for dipping or foaming and immerse the full teat length immediately after each cow is milked. Alternatively, use the electronic spraying method to cover every teat completely. Prevent the treatment being removed too soon; the manufacturer gives keeping cows standing for at least five minutes as an example.
Clean application equipment and store securely
Top up cups with fresh product as required, then empty and wash them with water after use. Follow local requirements for unused product, packaging and contaminated materials; the information sheet says to avoid release to an on-site wastewater treatment plant. Keep the original container tightly closed in a cool, ventilated place, away from oxidising materials.

FAQs
Does Contact need to be diluted?
No. Contact is supplied ready to use for its specified teat applications. Use it undiluted and follow the instructions for the chosen milking stage. Do not apply dilution ratios taken from a concentrate or a different teat-care product.
Can it be used before and after milking?
Yes, the manufacturer provides separate pre- and post-milking methods. Before milking, allow at least 60 seconds and then wipe and dry thoroughly. After milking, apply immediately and make sure the treatment remains on the teats for sufficient contact.
Which application methods are listed?
The information sheet covers manual dipping or foaming and spraying with an electronic sprayer. Use equipment suited to the selected method and ensure full coverage. A change of application method does not remove the contact-time, wiping or drying requirements for the relevant stage.
Why is the dark brown colour useful?
The visible formulation helps staff identify where Contact has been applied. Inspect coverage around the entire teat and follow the instructions for the full length or surface. Colour provides a practical application check, but does not replace correct preparation and contact time.
What do the EN test references mean for use?
The linked microbiological profile records bacterial testing under EN 1656 and yeast testing under EN 1657, with the relevant test conditions. Use the product label and application instructions for the farm routine; a laboratory test time should not be substituted for the stated pre- or post-milking method.
How should staff handle and store the 25L container?
Use suitable dispensing equipment and the protective gloves, clothing and footwear specified by the safety sheet. Keep the original container closed, cool and ventilated, away from oxidising materials. Follow the documented disposal guidance, because the product is classified as harmful to aquatic life with lasting effects.
