Portwest CH12 Oak Chainsaw Bib and Brace
Portwest CH12 Oak Chainsaw Bib and Brace is a protective garment for assessed forestry and chainsaw tasks requiring Type A front-leg coverage. Nine protective layers sit at the front of each leg beneath the outer fabric.
The 65% polyester and 35% cotton outer fabric weighs 245 g/m² and has a water-repellent finish. Five pockets, including phone storage, provide places for small essentials, while a concealed front zip and partially elasticated waist support dressing and fit.
Manufacturer documentation identifies Class 1, Type A chainsaw protection with a 20 m/s test classification. This describes laboratory performance and is not a guarantee against every chainsaw accident. Check the supplied certification and instructions before use.
Black is listed in sizes S–XXL. Select the fit through the task assessment and use alongside the other PPE and safe working procedures required for chainsaw work. Withdraw damaged protective garments from service and follow the supplied care instructions.

Does Class 1 guarantee safety at every chain speed?
No. The 20 m/s figure is a test classification. Real incidents vary, and protective clothing cannot replace safe chainsaw operation.
Is the outer fabric waterproof?
Portwest describes a water-repellent finish. Do not assume a waterproof rain garment.
