As Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for first and foremost creating a great customer experience as you will be one of the few team members of the Astral Hygiene team who will have face to face contact with our customers.

Astral Hygiene is a family business, which was born and has grown as a result of our impeccable service across the Scottish Borders.  We now service nationally through our courier network, but the Scottish Borders remains the jewel in our crown and we value our local customers exceptionally.

You will work as part of the warehouse team, whereby you will be relied upon to stock the warehouse as part of the team, liaise with the buying team, and load the van for deliveries.  You will be delivering goods across the Scottish Borders, Edinburgh, North Northumberland and Fife, and you will be a careful and considerate driver as you will be driving the company vehicles. 

As a key part of our operations team you will work closely with our Office Operations team and we have always and will continue to have a nice friendly atmosphere, with a helpful and happy demeour across the team. We all work for the customer and put the customer at the heart of everything we do, and as a part of us all working towards a common purpose we all work together as one happy team.

As a seasonal business, we are much busier in the summer months, but due to the fact that we are a business that can and did trade throughout the recent pandemic we were not in a position where we furloughed any staff, meaning we can provide job security for the right candidate. The winter months are a little less busy with deliveries, but we take advantage of this and ensure that our warehouses are prepared for the busy season.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Courteous and prompt customer service, with our reputation in mind at all times
  • Delivery of goods on a daily basis, right goods, right time, every time
  • Loading the van, and putting orders up, to ensure readiness for the next days deliveries
  • Stocking the warehouse, once goods in have received
  • Receiving goods
  • Managing and maintaining current existing customers, by not only providing a great customer experience but also suggesting additional products
  • Keeping an avid overview of current customers, and liaison with the operations team in terms of customers who haven’t ordered for a while
  • Supporting the whole team, and acting as one team

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Excellent customer service skills, treating the customer as king and providing an exceptional customer experience
  • An organised approach to everything you do
  • Exceptionally high attention to detail
  • Being able to work under pressure
  • Forklift Licence would be a great benefit
  • Excellent interpersonal and planning skills
  • Work as part of a team or alone as required
  • Friendly nature

 

WORKING HOURS AND OTHER WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a full time role, Mon – Friday 9am – 5pm.
