As somebody who is a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to cleaning, I have seen on many occasions that everyone’s cleaning standards are different. To some people a quick hoover and mop is good enough but to others, cleaning can take hours, sometimes all day.

One of the most important parts of cleaning and something almost everyone would notice is the floor. Whether its dirty socks or muddy footprints, it is quite difficult to hide if they are dirty.

Floor cleaning equipment can vary from a simple mop and bucket to a huge industrial cleaner, depending on the extent obviously. In this blog, I want to explain different equipment and techniques you can use to clean your floors, whether that be at home or work, there are so many!

Once reading this blog, you can decide which floor cleaning technique is perfect for you!

Mopping

Whether cleaning domestically or commercially, mopping is the most popular cleaning method. It is usually used to clean floors in houses or small areas, as it requires a lot of manual labour.

There are many different types of mops, such as cloth mops, which are absorbent and suitable for busy spaces; they allow quick and easy cleaning. Another popular choice is a Kentucky Mop; made of looping cotton yarn. These are the more traditional choice between the two.

Many workplaces colour coordinate their mops and mop buckets, meaning a certain mop is designated to that certain place/area. This is to prevent cross contamination.

Vacuum Cleaners

Vacuum cleaners are another essential in and outside of your home; this piece of equipment is used for an easy and straight forward of cleaning and upholstery. They use a quick suction to remove allergens such as grass and dust from the floors. Just like any other cleaning equipment, vacuum cleaners need regular maintenance.

Growing up, one thing that has stuck in my mind all these years is Henry the Hoover. Henrys are the most popular vacuum cleaners used in schools and businesses, surprisingly they were created to help keep cleaning staff company. As well as Henry, Numatic have many other cleaning machines such as George and Charles, which can be, used for wet and dry use and have the same concept as Henry. TASKI is also a popular brand, which produce high efficiency vacuum cleaners. Using state-of-the art technology, TASKI cleaners are ultra-silent and easy to use!

Here at Astral Hygiene we supply a full range of Numatic and TASKI vacuum cleaners.

Dust Mopping

Flat mops, unlike the traditional mop, are designed to remove bacteria from floors, walls and also stairs. It greatly reduces the use of detergents, therefore leaving surfaces clean without streaks. These mops contains thousands of microscopic fibres, which allures and holds onto dust and dirt. They tend to have longer handles; this allows them to reach higher places such as ceilings and walls. Dust mopping is a vital first step in floor cleaning as it removes all the dirt and dust from the floor before adding liquids. Easily changed and machine washable, can just be whipped out to clean up dust and dirt and the head can be thrown in the washing machine!

Carpet Cleaning Machines

Carpet cleaners are not only designed to clean carpets, they can be used to clean laminate and tiled floors, upholstery and stairs! From accidental spills to resistant stains, they are very useful in homes, schools and businesses.

Astral Hygiene sell a wide range of professional carpet cleaning machines, with models from TASKI and Numatic. Choose from basic commercial use carpet cleaners to heavy-duty industrial machines.

An example of one of the machines we sell here at Astral Hygiene is the TASKI Diversey Dry Foam Carpet Care System. This machine enables a carpet dry time of under 25 minutes; this allows for quicker operations and faster area turnovers. This TASKI system can also be transformed into a hard floor machine, increasing adaptability and productivity.

Scrubber Dryer Machines

Scrubber Dryers are designed to perform two different kinds of cleaning jobs simultaneously. They are good for tackling larger areas of flooring, usually in commercial environments. These machines use high contact pressure as it washes, scrubs and dries in one movement. Scrubbing from a rotary cleaning machine to drying from a vacuum-like suction all on its own!

Our range at Astral Hygiene consists of models from top brands such as TASKI and Numatic. We have both battery and cable powered machines to choose from, giving you ultimate flexibility!
